General Dentistry: TMJ jaw disorders

emperomandibular dysfunction (TMD) refers to the acute or chronic inflammation of the temperomandibular joint, which is the joint connecting the mandible of your jaw to the skull. This inflammation can result in many painful symptoms including:

  • Earaches, headaches, and migraines
  • Clicking or popping sound when opening and closing your mouth
  • Neck and Shoulder pain
  • Limited jaw movement
  • Aching pain in the face
  • Teeth grinding

Unfortunately, as many of these symptoms are associated with a variety of other medical disorders and span across several healthcare fields, TMD is often misdiagnosed and that misdiagnosis can be very debilitating to the patients overall health.

In our office we take a conservative approach in our treatment of TMD, and will give you an accurate diagnosis of your problem. Therefore, if you are experiencing these symptoms contact us to see not only if TMD is the cause, but to find out the proper path of treatment to alleviate you of these painful symptoms.
